Proposed works in St Paul’s Churchyard

A legal notice relating to replacing the path and the wall to the Garden of Remembrance may be found on the main church noticeboard on Hook Road. Scale plans are available to view in the church building, either following public services of worship or during parish office opening hours. Consultation is open until the first week in November.

This is to advise the local community that we are currently having to limit one-off bookings at St Paul’s Parish Hall, Hook Road, for local reasons.

Visitors to this website will have seen that a new Curate will be joining St Paul’s in October. Seeing the words there in black and white suddenly made the coming years I am to spend with you tangible, after just thinking about it for three years of initial training.

Morgan Tsvangirai visits the UK and meets Zimbabwean community

The Dean and Chapter of Southwark have extended a welcome to Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai of Zimbabwe.

On Saturday 20 June at 1pm, following prayers for the people of Zimbabwe led by the Dean, the Very Reverend Colin Slee, Mr Tsvangirai will address Zimbabweans and their friends in Southwark Cathedral. The event will finish at 3pm.

We look forward to welcoming back Revd David and Mrs Pat Ward on Sunday 5th July.

David was Vicar of St Paul’s from 1987-93 and did a wonderful job in building up the life of the parish following some lean years immediately preceding his appointment.

Bishops ask voters to put aside anger and vote positively

Following a meeting of the Church of England’s House of Bishops this week the Archbishops of Canterbury and York have today issued a call for voters not to allow their anger over MPs expenses to translate into a wider disillusionment with the democratic process.

I was recently doing a series of seminars and addresses at a conference in this country and took the opportunity to speak about two of my heroes: Martin Niemöller and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

A new curate for St Paul's!

We are delighted that St Paul's is to become a training parish again.

Peter Kelley will be joining us as a non-stipendiary (voluntary) minister in the Autumn, after his ordination as Deacon.

Christian Aid Week collection

St Paul's collected a grand total of £2439.48 during Christian Aid Week.
